Mongoose Tyax Pro Mountain Bike search it on performancebike.com i am relatively new to mountain biking but right now i have a 2006 Schwinn mesa mens mountain bike and would like to upgrade

i have to disagree with the other answers, if they knew anything about riding they would know about mongoose.
mongoose have had bikes in the UCI worldcup for years. the UCI worldcup is Downhill racing and puts hugh amounts of demands on the bike that means that the bikes are no crap and are of good quality.
the mongoose bikes are also one of the lightest DH bikes around so in that aspect they are wrong again.
this been said the low end mongoose bikes are made a bit cheaper with lower end heavier parts however there cheap bikes so its expected.
as for that bike you are looking at i would class that as a low end bike and you can find other bikes that will be better value for money.
i suggest looking at giant they are great value for money.
i suggest goto your local bike shop and ask them what they would suggest for your price range.
