Watch hand setting and removing
Watch hands can be said to be the most important components in a watch. As they are very small and delicate and they have to be placed/ removed accurately, special tools are needed both to set them and to remove them. Hand setting and removing tools satisfy this need.
The Bergeon 30019 Precision Hand levers is a pair of watch tools which is preferred by professionals and hobbyists alike. The tool is perfectly balanced in terms of shape and feel. It aids in the safe and clean removal of watch hands as it is a precision tool. It has a highly polished work surface and is made of hardened steel. It has a knurled handle for comfort and good grip. Bergeon 30636-1 Preston hand removing tool is an ideal tool for removing hours, minutes and seconds hands safely though not small chronograph hands. It comes with a dial protector.
With the Bergeon 30671-7 Precision Hand Remover, hands, cannon pinions, sweep wheels and chronograph driving wheels can be removed safely. A precision tool that has been specially designed for this purpose, this tool removes hands without so much as touching the dial. It is safe for use on curved dials, stop watches and movements without dials tool. There is a hand setting tool, Bergeon 5378 which is used by professionals to safely set watch hands. It has eight pieces of stakes and a holder spindle that comes mounted on a sturdy nickel base. The base has a diameter of 50 mm and the stake sizes are .3, .5, .7, 1.15, 1.5 and 1.7 mm. This tool also comes with dial protectors. There is a hand fitting platform and movement holder from Bergeon called Bergeon 5409. It is a precision support that offers spring suspension on the top platform table to provide a cushion effect. To support the back plate or the centre wheel post when fitting hands, there is a central probe. The platform is provided with voids in order to accommodate protrusions.
The plastic levers Bergeon 5431 comes as a pair – it is used by both professionals as well as hobbyists. It is a perfectly balanced hand held tool made of plastic and assists in safely removing of watch hands. There is a hand driver with nylon tips from A&F. It is a Swiss made tool which is reasonably priced. It is rugged in features and is simple to use. The nylon tip ensures that there is no marking or damaging of hands when hands are being driven into watches. It has an ergonomically designed, non slip shaft that allows for maximum comfort. It can handle hole diameters of .5 and 1 mm; it is 100 mm long and is best suited for quartz watches. The Bergeon 5477 drawing crown or hand setting tool is used to draw watch crowns and also to remove hands from dials. The grip is spring loaded and the tool is made of stainless steel.
